My Pamper Evening Routine // A guide to a fulfilling relaxing evening

bath

If you are like any other person in this world, you probably have 600 things going on constantly and are totally and completely overwhelmed and on the verge of a breakdown. Or maybe you have a free evening and don’t know what to do. In either of these situations one of the best choices is to take an evening to pamper yourself!

As an aspiring cosmetologist, I am a full believer in “me time”. Maybe that’s because so many people go to the salon looking for said “me time”. It doesn’t have to be a huge expensive occasion that is always out of reach to take some time for yo’self. Here are some of my favorite things to do on a pamper evening for myself as well as some of my favorite products.

1. Set the mood. Make it pretty damn obvious you are really to relax and rewind. Light some candles, burn some incense, put on some of your favorite music, or relaxing music. Spotify has some great playlists for relaxing and I usually just pick one. Or, if you are like me and resort to shows and videos to relax, get those ready.

2.Run a bath. Here is where you can take even more liberties to cater this evening to yourself. A bath is one of the most relaxing things you can do for yourself. In my mind bubbles are always a must, but if that’s not your thang thats fine too! I enjoy Sweet Pea Bubble Bath from Bath and Body Works. My go to bath is that and lots of Epsom salts. The scents intertwine and it’s steamy, healing, and heavenly. If you enjoy Lush products, plop in your favorite bath bomb and bubble bar and you are good to go! Again, there are plenty of at home recipes you can do for you bath cocktail. While you soak you can Browse the internet. Now. The trick to making this relaxing is probably staying away from any social media that can cause you to get your jimmies in a ruffle. So watch that Netflix show you’ve been meaning to catch up on. Remember when I said get shows and videos ready? Heres where you just hit play and relax! I tend to pre-make a playlist of lots of videos. My favorite in my last bath was KathleenLights on YouTube. Her makeup tutorials are to die for.

3. Skincare. Often how our skin looks affects how we feel about ourselves. So take time to give it a little extra lovin’! While you are chilling in your bath, do a face mask, or exfoliate!  What I usually reach for is my Aloette Restorative Enzyme Peal which you can read my review of here. What ever you do, your skin will thank you! There are plenty of DIY face masks you can find online. Don’t just worry about your face, your hands, feet, elbows…Basically all of your skin can use some extra care. I like to exfoliate my whole body when I take a bath like this. Again, I use the Sweet Pea Golden Sugar Scrub from Bath and Body Works. After my mask/exfoliating/etc. I cleanse my face like normal with my Mary Kay Time Wise for normal to dry skin. Don’t forget to moisturize after your bath! I have extremely dry skin normally so on pamper days I moisturize even more than normal. Can you guess what I use? If you guessed the Ultra Shea Body Cream in Sweet Pea from Bath and Body Works, you are correct. When I find a scent I like I stick to it for a while. Judge me. On my face lately I’ve been using the Replenishing serum + C after I am out of the bath. While I’m still in though, I will use the Mary Kay Hand Softener. Now technically this isn’t supposed to be washed off but it stays pretty thick and sticky for a while so it works for me to do it in the bath and it gently washes off as I finish.

4. Hair care. While you’re soaking, do a hair mask too! Too often our hair is left mistreated and forgotten and our daily care routines, and even more so in pamper routines. There are plenty of hair masks you can purchase that are very affordable like Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. Pick something you like, and that smells good, duh. My favorite is the It’s A 10 Miracle Deep Conditioner.  My hair is very damaged from lots of color processing and this makes it feel like magic! Highly recommend to my fellow not so natural blondes out there. I use a leave in conditioner as well, the Joico Liquid Reconstruction.

5. Manicure and/or pedicure. This is a great post bath activity given that your cuticles are soft and clean.  The state of my nails can usually describe how my life is going, as I am a picker in times of stress. So clean those babies up and slap on a new color. This is a cheap present you can give yourself. Or use an old favorite. I find doing nails to be quite therapeutic and meditative. But again. Cosmetologist speaking.

Avoid all your stress triggers. I know the flow of work seems endless, but sometimes the best thing to do to reduce your stress is to not think about your problems for a bit and just relax and rejuvenate. If you just work and work and work and work you will get overworked, be less productive, tired, and not perform at your best. Inactivity and rest is key to creativity and productivity. 🙂

Take these tips and run! Set aside a night once a week or twice a month to just worry about your pretty little self. You’ll feel better and be glad you did.

With love,

Michaela
